Ways to Help

  • Volunteering
S.A.F.E. House operates solely with the help of volunteers. Volunteers are needed especially for our adoption sites each weekend. This rewarding work includes setting up the pens, watering and walking the dogs, cleaning up messes, helping the dogs meet prospective new owners, and taking down the pens when we are finished. In addition, volunteers are occasionally needed to transport dogs to and from veterinary appointments. We gratefully accept all help offered from volunteers age 12 and older.

  • Donations

S.A.F.E. House is a 501(c)(3) organization, and as such, all donations are tax-deductible. Adoption fees alone are not enough to sustain the day to day operations of S.A.F.E. House. We receive some additional funding from the sale of microchips, T-shirts, and garage sale item. Most importantly, S.A.F.E. House operates on funds generously donated from the public. Donations may be mailed to our business address: S.A.F.E. House Rescue and Adoption, 6450 Louetta Rd. Ste. 140, PMB 1060, Spring, TX 77379

  • Kroger Neighor to Neighbor Account
You can link your KrogerPlus card to a Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor Account which allows Kroger to donate 1% of what you spend in their store to S.A.F.E. House Rescue!  Click here for the application and take it with you the next time you shop at Kroger!  This is a great way for people that aren't able to foster or make a donation to contribute to our cause (everyone's gotta eat, right?)!

  • Fostering
The success of our program is dependent on foster homes. Dogs become much more suitable for adoption if they have been housed in a loving foster home rather than a kennel. In our foster homes dogs begin their obedience, crate training and housetraining if needed. Their compatibility with children, cats, and other dogs can be evaluated.

S.A.F.E. House will provide a crate, medical care, heartworm and flea preventive and dog food to foster homes and will closely monitor the progress of each dog. If you choose to buy pet food (or treats or toys) for your foster dog, these contributions are tax-deductible. There is no financial obligation associated with fostering. We ask that our foster families make the dog a temporary member of their family and transport the dog to and from adoption each weekend. (Mileage for transporting your foster dog is tax deductible as well!)

If you have vacation plans to be out of town, just let us know and we will make arrangements for another foster family to take care of your dog while you are away. If all other foster homes are full, SAFE House will pay to board your foster dog.

If you have the room in your home and heart to foster one of our dogs, the rewards are immense. Click here to learn more about fostering.  Please contact us at (281)370-0133 or stop by our weekend adoption if you can help.
